Bard Clemente Courses:
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. through May 2013
Bard College will be offering free college credit humanities courses at the Kingston Library. All tuition, books and child-care expenses will be covered. To apply for this course, please pick up an application at the library's circulation desk.
Bard Math Circle:
Second Saturday of the month at 1:00 p.m. through June 2013
Math puzzles, logic games, problem solving and a hands-on math project. This gentle and encouraging mathematical environment is led by Bard College math professor Japheth Wood and undergraduate math majors. Middle school and upper-elementary aged students welcome.
Bookmark Club:
Mondays at 4:00 p.m. Go on a book reading journey for elementary age students with Sasha Finlay. Short stories and chapter books by various authors, drawing, bookmaking, films, printmaking, comics, cartooning, bookmark making!
Teen Art Lab: Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00 p.m. After school art program with local artist and SUNY New Paltz Professor Jessica Poser. Explore the arts: painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, sculpture, crafts and more! No prior experience necessary. Open to all students aged 13-18 No registration required, FREE!
Children’s Story Hours:
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Toddler Time Tuesday (18 months. to 3 years) and Preschool Wednesday (3 years to 5 years) followed by crafts and music.
Stress Reduction through Meditation:
Thursday mornings 10:30 a.m. This is a great way to find inner balance and deep relaxation. This program is free and all are welcome. Call Ann at 339-8567 with any questions.
Knitting Club:

Origami Kingston:
Second and fourth Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Explore the art of Japanese paper folding with Anita Barbour. Ages five and up may attend.

An exhibit of 100 vintage Kingston postcards is featured in the Friends of Historic Kingston Gallery. “Greetings From Kingston: A Story in Postcards” shows the growth of Kingston and the character it developed since its founding over three and a half centuries ago. The streetscapes, buildings and parks shown on the postcards reveal the architectural and historical richness of the city while serving to remind viewers of how much of value has been preserved, but also as a warning of how much has been lost. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, may be viewed on Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October 26th. The exhibit is organized in conjunction with a 126-page book featuring 215 vintage postcards of Kingston. The book is available in the FHK Gallery gift shop.
Guided tours of the circa 1812 Fred J. Johnston House will also resume for the season on Friday, May 3. A visual landmark on the corner of Main and Wall Streets, the Federal style house features a collection of 18th and early 19th century furnishings and decorative arts in eight elegant room settings designed by its former owner, noted antiques dealer and preservationist Fred J. Johnston. Tours are offered Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the last start time at 3:30 p.m. The tour price is $5 per adult; $2 for children under 16. The Friends of Historic Kingston Gallery and the Fred J. Johnston Museum are located on the corner of Wall and Main Streets in the Stockade District of Uptown. The Volunteer Firemen’s Hall & Museum located at 265 Fair Street in the Historic Stockade District, is open for the season. The hours of operation are through October - Fridays 11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. Saturdays 10:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. June through August - also open Wednesdays & Thursdays 11:00 a.m.-3:00p.m. For more information call (845) 331-0866. May – June - Cornell Street Studios presents the "Making Waves" Nautical Art Show". Over 40 artists showcasing pastels, oil paintings, watercolors, sculpture, ceramics, drawings, mosaics, wearable art (jewelry, handbags, hair, accessories) and more. May 28th – The Kingston Farmers’ Midtown Market celebrates its Opening Day from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28th. The Market’s Broadway location between Henry Street and the Ulster Performing Arts Center makes it a perfect venue for the Center for Creative Education’s “Let’s Move Ulster!” The event begins at 5:00 p.m. Then join Mayor Shayne Gallo, Ulster County Executive Mike Hein, Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk, and Congressman Chris Gibson at the Midtown Market’s “Vine-Cutting Ceremony” beginning at 5:30. Shop the Midtown Market’s farm-to-table vendors and pick-up your dinner to go or eat onsite in the new San Severia. The Market continues every Tuesday, rain-or-shine, through September 24th.
