Once again, Clearwater and the Hudson River Maritime Museum will herald the return of spring on the Hudson River with a joint fundraiser, Barn Dancin’ on the Rondout, which will take place on Sunday, April
13, from 5:30 - 8:30PM.

The community is invited to the Rondout waterfront for an evening of celebration and to enjoy Contra Dance music by Jay Ungar and Molly Mason; Peter Blue will serve as caller. Widely known throughout the region, Jay and Molly “have become one of the most celebrated duos in the American acoustic music scene. Their consummate musicianship, incomparable warmth and wit, and obvious love of the music have delighted audiences worldwide.”

The Kingston Home Port and Education Center, built in partnership by the two organizations and located on the historic Rondout will serve as the venue for this community gathering and evening of fun, light
refreshments and dancing.

WHAT:    Barn Dancin’ on the Rondout, a joint fundraiser for the Hudson River Maritime Museum and Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.

WHO:      The community is invited to this celebration with Contra Dance music by Jay Ungar and Molly Mason and called by Peter Blue.

WHERE:    Kingston Home Port and Education Center, 50 Rondout Landing, Kingston, NY.

About the Kingston Home Port and Education Center:
Hudson River Sloop Clearwater and Hudson River Maritime Museum share the multi-use building, which serves as a boat maintenance workshop and winter home port for the sloop Clearwater and an educational/lecture/event facility for the Museum. The sloop Clearwater has just spent her second winter at the new home port this year, where she has undergone major restoration work. Her sailing season begins mid-April.

About Hudson River Maritime Museum:
Located on the historic Rondout waterfront in downtown Kingston, the Hudson River Maritime Museum continues to serve as “history’s portal to the Hudson”. The Museum, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, was founded by steamboat and tugboat aficionados, as well as by local citizens who wanted to preserve the rich history of the Hudson River and its tributaries. Kingston’s prime role as the most important port between Alb any and New York in the 19th century made it the logical place to establish a maritime museum. Since it began operations in 1980, the Hudson River Maritime Museum has been a leading museum on the Hudson River, with its vast permanent collection of maritime artifacts and excellent education programs for adults and school age children.
