The Kingston Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical service to the residents of the City of Kingston. The department operates from seven stations - three career and four volunteer. Staffed by 52 career personnel and 20 volunteers, the Fire Department prides itself in a three minute response to any part of the City. The department is part of the Ulster County 911 system and all emergency incidents should be reported by dialing 911.
The department responds to approximately 5000 emergency incidents per year. We provide service with the largest staff of New York Certified Emergency Medical Technicians in the Hudson Valley. We provide basic life support services and fire apparatus are equipped with cardiac defibrillator. The department works in conjunction with Mobile Life Support Services who provide paramedic and transport to local hospitals. The department also provides hazardous materials response throughout Ulster County. Emergency response on the Rondout Creek and Hudson River is provided by Marine Fire Rescue a joint venture of the Cordts Hose Co. and Union Hose Co. volunteers.
