52nd Annual Children’s Day Parade to be Held on July 15, 2022
KINGSTON, NY – Mayor Steven T. Noble and the City of Kingston Parks and Recreation Department are pleased to announce the 52nd Annual Children’s Day Parade will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022. The theme this year is “Heroes.”
“The Children’s Day Parade is a wonderful Kingston tradition that so many families look forward to every year,” said Mayor Noble. “This year the theme is an apt one – heroes can be interpreted in many ways. Maybe it’s a first responder or medical professional, or a superhero. We will see many of our local heroes at this event-- from Kingston firefighters and police officers to the many vital community organizations and youth groups. I look forward to celebrating all these Kingston heroes!”
Lynsey Timbrouck, Director of the City of Kingston’s Parks and Recreation Department said, “We are thrilled to bring back the Children’s Day Parade after a two-year hiatus. There’s no denying the difficulties and challenges we have all faced since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but healthcare providers, emergency personnel, food service industry staff, and so many others continue to work tirelessly to serve our community in our time of need. So this year’s theme of ‘Heroes’ feels most fitting to honor every type of hero, especially the ones who don’t wear capes. The Parks and Recreation Department is looking forward to a fun-filled celebration!”
Lineup begins at 4:30pm on Pine Grove Avenue and Marys Avenue, with the parade stepping off promptly at 6:00pm. Following the parade, the Kingston Plaza is providing food and water for participants.
