Mayor Noble Announces June Paving Project
KINGSTON, NY – Mayor Steven T. Noble and the Department of Public Works are pleased to announce that the next round of paving will be Madden Street, Arlington Place, and Field Court.
Preparation has already begun in these areas. Milling is expected to begin Friday, June 16, 2023. Paving is expected to begin Thursday, June 22 and be completed by Friday, June 23, weather depending.
“As always, I thank the Department of Public Works and their partners at Callanan for their continued efforts to resurface as many roads as possible this paving season,” said Mayor Noble. “Due to Central Hudson’s ongoing gas line replacement work, we have moved the Pearl Street paving to later this summer. Public Works will continue to announce paving projects each month into November.”
During the milling and paving operation, all vehicles must remain off the street. Once the paving process begins, access/egress will be denied until the blacktop cools enough for normal vehicular traffic, approximately three to five hours. Drivers are urged to use caution; the roadway will be uneven during the milling process making the surface subject to tripping hazards or tire damage. The road will be closed for the safety of all residents and pedestrians. Never move or go around barricades.
When blacktop is initially laid, the material is extremely hot. Please do not walk on or touch the newly laid material. Severe burns may occur to humans and animals. Vehicles or bicycles driven on freshly laid material will leave permanent indentations in the roadway and may damage tires.
