A Snow Emergency has been declared for Friday, December 26 at 5:00pm
December 26
IS AN EVEN DAY
The City of Kingston has declared a Snow Emergency for Friday, December 26, 2025, starting at 5:00pm. Parking restrictions will be in effect, starting at 7:00pm.
Vehicles must be moved off the street or to the EVEN side of the street by 7:00pm on Friday. Unless you are parked on a Snow Emergency Route or dead-end, vehicles may be parked on the EVEN side of the street, which means the side of the street with even house numbers.
The best place for vehicles is off-street. Vehicles should remain off-street or on the even side overnight, and move vehicles to the odd side of the street at 7:00am on Saturday, December 27.
There will be no parking on Snow Emergency Routes. For a list of streets, please visit https://kingston-ny.gov/snowemergency
PLEASE NOTE: Vehicles not in compliance with these parking restrictions will be ticketed and towed.
Snow Emergency Routes will be maintained as priorities for plowing throughout the storm.
*** Parking Information:
All vehicles must be parked in allowable locations, including: private driveways or parking lots owned by the vehicle owner or with permission of the owner; municipal lots; or on the appropriate side of the street. During snow emergencies, any pre-existing parking restrictions which designate or prohibit parking on a particular side of the street are temporarily superseded by snow emergency alternate side of the street parking. Vehicles still may not block driveways or fire hydrants. Individuals with access to off-street parking are strongly encouraged to move vehicles off of the street to allow for the quickest and most effective snow clearing.
***Duration of Snow Emergency: Snow emergencies and related parking restrictions are typically in effect for at least two days in order for the Department of Public Works to clear both sides of the street. You must adhere to these parking restrictions and move your vehicle, regardless of whether or not the weather has improved or the street looks clear. Parking restrictions may be lifted sooner if the City determines it to be safe to do so. In this event, a separate alert will be sent announcing the change to parking restrictions.
