Historian Ed Ford to Retire
KINGSTON, NY – The City of Kingston’s
longtime Historian, Ed Ford, will retire this summer after 35 years of service
at the age of 101 years old. Mayor Steve Noble and his staff will be honoring
Mr. Ford with a farewell reception and ceremony at City Hall on August 13 at
11:00am. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Friends of Historic
Kingston will attend the ceremony, with their Board President, Nancy Chando, presenting
Mr. Ford with a proclamation.
“It has been my great pleasure to work with Ed over these last four years, and
it’s bittersweet to see him retire,” said Mayor Noble. “Ed will be missed, but
he will remain one of our most important and beloved Kingstonians. I would like
to offer my heartfelt gratitude for Mr. Ford’s many years of service to the
Kingston community.”
His replacement, Taylor Bruck, an
archivist for Ulster County’s Records Bureau and a protégé of Mr. Ford, is
expected to be announced at the ceremony.
