Swift911 is the City of Kingston's Emergency Notification System, set up as a means to alert our Citizens to emergencies, such as Weather Emergencies and other events that will have a direct impact on the City's Residents.
The City of Kingston's Swift911 System has now been updated to include an option to subscribe to the Kingston Water Department's Emergency Alert system. In order to add this subscription to your Swift911 account, simply complete the following steps:
After logging into your Swift911 account, click on the "+add subscriptions" button
Once the Add Subscriptions page opens, first select your range from the City of Kingston (1), then enter your zip code (2), and then finally, click the "Search" button (3). If you are within the range of the effected area of the Kingston Water Department, then you will see the option to select this subscription. Click on the radio box to select the subscription (4), and then finally, click on the "Add Selected" button (5) to be added to the Kingston Water Department's Emergency broadcast list.
After registering for Swift911, you can add additional Phone Numbers to your Account, as well as information such as Family Members. To receive the alerts on your desired phone (if you have added more than one), you can prioritize which one will receive the alert first by moving them up or down accordingly in the Priority section of the Phone List. In order to receive the alerts via email, remove any phone numbers from your Contact Information. To add multiple email addresses, simply place a semi-colon (;) between each email address.
The Swift911 Program can send alerts across most communication platforms, including land lines, standard cell phones, smart phones and email. Alerts can be sent via phone call, email or text message.After signing up for the service, you can add all forms of contact you wish to receive, add services such as TTY/TDD, as well as specifying whether the phone(s) you have added are voice only or voice and text/SMS capable.
